*A splined canvas is a type of gallery-wrapped canvas where the fabric is stretched over a frame and secured by inserting the edges into a groove or channel (the "spline") on the back of the stretcher bars. It provides a clean, staple-free look on the edges for contemporary art display, but is difficult to re-stretch.
